On Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 August, the first Soepermarkt Music Publishing X Rockoco writing camp took place in Trix, Antwerp. A collaboration in which Dutch and Belgian songwriters, producers, and artists have worked together on new music.

On behalf of Soepermarkt Music Publishing, songwriter & producer Marnix FJ, Roel ‘GOSTO’ Vermeer, songwriter & singer Luka, and songwriter & singer Will Knox participated. From Rockoco, among others, Meskerem Mees, Willem Ardui (Blackwave), Ikraaan, Jibran, Polar Youth, and Aili were there.

Jochem Tromp of Soepermarkt Music Publishing about the writing camp: “The best thing about our profession is bringing songwriters, producers, and artists together. When this takes place on an international level, it always brings something very special. However close Belgium may seem, there is relatively little collaboration among the many fantastic songwriters and artists. The enthusiasm that came with this during this writing camp was unique to see and hear. Each of the participants was super-enthusiastic about the collaborations, the location in which this was facilitated, and the songs that originated from it. Definitely worth repeating!”

Hendrik De Rycker from Rockoco about the writing camp: “For us, it was the first time that we organized a writing camp. Most of our artists were not familiar with the concept, and we wanted to give them a taste of what that could be like. It was inspiring to see everyone at work and to get to know each other. Even if it was only for two days, it still felt like a real camp. And during the listening sessions, I fell from my chair every time. Trix Muziekcentrum turned out the ideal place with the different rooms, the studios, the garden, and technical support. I could not have imagined that so many beautiful songs and ideas would be developed in such a short session!”
