Benny Sings releases new single ‘Pyjamas’ feat. Remi Wolf

Whereas Benny Sings has always written autobiographical songs, on the upcoming album Young Hearts he looks outward, creating a fictional cast of lovable losers – such as on Pyjamas; a song about a man with low libido and his other half wanting more. ‘Pyjamas’ is a bossa nova-inspired song, produced by Kenny Beats, featuring vocals from Remi Wolf.

“I’m always looking for the anti-hero,” Benny says. “One of the subjects that hasn’t been sung about too much is the male with too low libido, instead of too high. We all know the ‘I can’t get no satisfaction’ take on things. Just seems funny to me to turn that around, a duet where the girl wants to roll around in the hay, and the boy is nervously trying to avoid the question on hand. ‘We could take a walk on the beach… Read a book maybe?’

Young Hearts is Benny Sings’ first record made with a single producer – beatmaker-to-the-stars Kenny Beats. The pair connected over DM, after which Kenny invited Benny to work from his home studio in L.A., where they would jam and write during the day. They’d riff off each other, sharing stories, melodies, and adlibs with collaborators Kenny invited over, relaxing into the anything-goes vibe.

Benny says, “I’ve always loved bossa nova. I’ve listened to Getz/Gilberto by João Gilberto and Stan Getz over a million times in my life. This music is light, yet profound, and I love it. So to pay homage to this music on ‘Pyjamas’, together with Kenny’s crazy drums, is a thrill for me.”
