Today, Soepermarkt is proud to announce the official release of Psalm Funk, the highly anticipated second album from Amsterdam-based composer and producer Bnnyhunna. Following his critically acclaimed 2024 debut Echoes of a Prayer, this new body of work sees the artist deepening his musical language and expanding his sonic palette.
While his debut was a personal dialogue with God, Psalm Funk moves from inward reflection toward forward momentum. The album remains rooted in gospel harmonies but is now energized by smooth funk rhythms and the fluid flexibility of jazz improvisation. A central theme of the record is the use of space; silence and restraint are treated as essential structures, giving the music a meditative yet powerful quality.
Global Collaborations The album features a stellar lineup of international collaborators:
- American saxophonist Braxton Cook.
- Trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey (Kokoroko).
- 3DDY and Reggie Dartey.
Following the success of Echoes of a Prayer, which earned an Edison Pop award and Grammy consideration, Bnnyhunna continues to fuse gospel, funk, jazz, and African rhythmic traditions into a sound that is entirely his own.
To celebrate the release, Bnnyhunna is embarking on a Dutch tour this April, followed by a performance at The Great Escape in the UK:
