Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter Benny Sings has been nominated for the prestigious Edison Pop Award in the Soul/R&B/Funk category with his album ‘Young Hearts.’ In 2023, he experienced his most successful year as an artist, earning recognition at one of the most important music awards in the Dutch music industry.

2023 proved to be a successful year for Benny Sings. In March, he released his album Young Hearts in collaboration with American producer Kenny Beats. The album received international acclaim from NPR Music, Brooklyn Vegan, Okayplayer, Bandcamp, Clash, Dork, and The Line Of Best Fit. In his home country, it garnered glowing reviews from publications like Volkskrant, OOR, and Trouw. It also performed well on streaming services, accumulating over 20 million streams to date.

With the album, Benny embarked on a worldwide tour, including sold-out shows in London, Berlin, Paris, LA, San Francisco, Seoul, and Tokyo. In the Netherlands, all club shows, including those at Paradiso and Maassilo, were sold out. Benny concluded the year with a sold-out show at the Carré Theater in Amsterdam.

Last year also marked the twentieth anniversary of Benny Sings’ career as an artist. During this time, the Dutch artist amassed an impressive list of collaborations with over 1.5 billion streams, including artists like Mac DeMarco, Free Nationals, Marc Rebillet, and Rex Orange County. With the latter, he co-wrote the worldwide hit Loving Is Easy – which recently went double platinum in the US – and also produced his #1 album in the United Kingdom, Who Cares. Benny’s latest single with the French duo Polo & Pan amassed 200,000 streams in just one week.
