Luka

Born in Cape Town, raised and based in the Netherlands; singer-songwriter Lisa Lukaszczyk forms the creative foundation for her band Luka. Inspired by artists such as Feist, Sylvan Esso, and Bon Iver, Luka exhibits a sound with touches of dreamy electro-pop, folk, and soul.

After having released ‘Welcome, Generation Everything‘ in 2018, her successful debut album ‘First Steps of Letting Go‘ came out in 2020. Produced by Wannes Salomé (Klangstof, Nana Adjoa), this album navigates from hushed electronics to catchy indie pop. The album was followed by the release of remix EP ‘Reworks [FSOLG]’ which features three reworks made by three different musicians: Barbagallo (Tame Impala), Wannes Salomé (Klangstof), and Willem Ardui (Blackwave).

In April 2023, Luka released her EP ‘Director in the Dark‘. Four songs in which Luka attempts to get a grip on the feeling of groping in the dark. Luka summarizes the EP:

“The songs are born from a sense of uprooting. This may seem like a lonely feeling, but there is also strength in it; you get to choose where you live and who lives in you. ‘Director in the Dark’ is made for everyone who recognizes themselves in this.”
